Life in Kenya

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you all for your continued prayers. It has been a busy couple of weeks as we near the second half of September. We sent Walmart orders from across the ocean to help our son William and daughter Hannah move to Virginia Beach. Shout outs to Teri Weeks and sons for moving support, Papa Dan, Brenda and Patrick for surrounding the kids and helping out. Also a big thanks to David Watson and his church for connecting with William and Hannah when they arrived in the big city! Such a blessing and answer to prayers when you are far away.

Our local church, Karen Vineyard Church, has been gathered with our head pastor, Craig Luper, in prayer as his wife of 47 years passed away on September 11. The prayer service for the family this past Wednesday filled our school’s auditorium and we were thankfully to offer the space. Please continue to lift up the Luper family.

This weekend was also a long one for us. During the time we enjoyed resources in Karen and some much needed down time. It was another answer of prayer to be able to reset together. Part of our time took us to the Kazuri (small and beautiful) bead factory in Karen. This is a beautiful industry. You can order from them here.

Philip our tour guide made sure I took lots of pictures to share.

Praises:

  • Courtney started with a discipleship group of 6 5th grade girls.
  • We are getting ready to release an interest form for psychological assessments.
  • Jeremy got the budget completed, submitted and approved by home office!
  • Continued fellowship with co-workers and building community.

Prayers:

  • Guidance for William and Hannah as they develop community in their new surroundings, particularly finding a church..
  • Continued peace for the KVC family, especially the Luper family.
  • Prayer for several WNS families touched this year already with family losses.
  • Clarity for our Field Leadership Team (FLT) as we explore adding an English Immersion program for upper elementary students that would have traditionally been denied entry to WNS due to limited English proficiency.

So thankful for your God-given talents to see solutions and get it done! There is only one you! Those girls have no idea that they are about to be blown over with blessings, and you too. I love you and miss you. Can you send me William’s new address please?

So thankful for your update and to hear about your new endeavors. It’s also a relief to know that William and Hannah are moved in and settled. I was really concerned about how they would manage.

Sorry to hear of losses in your church and school. You are always in my prayers and thoughts. Love and miss you both so much!!
